A Much Belated Post--Montebelli

From Camp Michelangelo we took a two-hour car ride to Montebelli. On the way we stopped at a Medieval town called Monteriggioni and had lunch. When we arrived at Montebelli we were amazed. This hotel is beautiful and amazing. There is a pool, a large barn in the back which holds retired racing horses and a few ponies, amazing landscape, and a group of fantastic staff members. The food is a completely different story. Our first night here we were all amazed. The food was so delicious and it just kept coming course after course. Clarence, the chef, is so sweet and always wants to know what you think of his cooking. Just last night he made a few of us chocolate cake and chocolate squares even after we already had dessert. Alessandro, the owner, is so kind. He comes to talk to us every night at dinner to make sure we are having a good time and everything is up to our liking. This area has so much history and we are told a new piece of it each night. Our day trips have been amazing, funny, and worth the drive. Yesterday we went to Castiglione della Pescaia. This beach was so pretty. The water was so clear and relaxing. The great thing about day trips and having the ability to drive is if we get lost we are able to see sights we might not of been able to see in the first place and we are still able to get back home. Driving here is nothing compared to driving in the U.S. The different highways go in between towns so we are able to see the beautiful sunflower fields, amazing mountains, and unique towns. Today we are headed to Duruta to shop for some pottery; I know the Mom’s are excited for what their child will bring home to them. It’s a three-hour drive but we are told it is completely worth it!
